Core Leadership Series

Take this course before meeting with girls.

It is required for at least one adult in attendance at every troop or group meeting/outing to take Girl Scouting 101, Safety-Wise, and Girl Scout Program.

Before Welcome Session

It is required for at least one adult in attendance at every troop or group meeting/outing to take Girl Scouting 101, Becoming a Volunteer, Money Matters, Safety-Wise and Girl Scout Program.  Highly recommended for all troop/group adults.

Your Welcome Session is a 30-minute meeting with a council representative (volunteer or staff member).

Please schedule your Welcome Session after you’ve taken GSUSA Orientation.

Required for at least one adult from the troop or group (need not be in attendance at every meeting).

After Welcome Session

Required for at least one adult or team  who will be responsible for forming a new troop/group.  Highly recommended for all troop/group adults who are starting up a new troop/group. 

Before or after Welcome Session

Required for at least one adult who will be responsible for ensuring that all girl and adult members are properly registered, and that all troop/group adults are properly screened.  Highly recommended for all troop/group adults who are starting up a troop/group. 

After Welcome Session - Step 3 of New Troop Checklist

Required for at least one adult who will be responsible for ensuring that all girl and adult members are properly registered, and that all troop/group adults are properly screened.  Highly recommended for all troop/group adults who are starting up a new troop/group. 

When you have your troop number - Step 4 of New Troop Checklist

Required for at least one person on the adult leadership team for the troop, and the troop treasurer.  Highly recommended for all troop/group adults.

If the troop/group will be accepting credit card payments for product sales.

Take this recommended online course any time - especially if you feel you could use a little more information about how to work with journeys. 

It is highly recommended for at least one adult in attendance at every troop or group meeting/outing to take Leadership Essentials.

Grade Level Courses

Take a grade level course upon completion of the core leadership series, and as soon as possible after meeting with girls.

As girls progress through the grade levels it is recommended that you take the appropriate grade level course.

This course is not required, but it is highly recommended for at least one adult in attendance at every Daisy troop meeting/outing

Beyond Meetings Series

Troop Fall Sale Managers must complete this course before participating in the Fall Product Sale.  Print the certificate at the end of the course to show your Service Unit Fall Sale Manager.

Required for at least one adult per troop participating in the Fall Product Sale.

Troop Cookie Manager and Troop Leaders should take this course before participating in the cookie program.

Required for at least one adult per troop before participating in the 2013 Cookie Program.

Before the troop/groups first outing, short trip, or overnight.

This course is required for at least one adult who will attend any outing, short trip or overnight (any activity where you will meet at a different location than regular troop meetings) and who is involved in the planning process with the girls.  You should take Safety-Wise before taking this course.  

Take this course when planning trips of 3 nights or longer, national and international trips.

This course is required for troops planning a trip of 3 nights or longer, national and international trips

Take Troop Camping Certification before troop cooks OR sleeps outdoors (or in shelters without electricity OR indoor plumbing)

Required of at least one adult who will attend the outing and who is involved in the planning process for the trip.  See course description for Equivalency "Test Out" information.

This course can be taken to satisfy Troop Camping Certification requirements (includes TCC for a girl attendee also).

Take this course or Troop Camping Certification before troop cooks OR sleeps outdoors (or in shelters without electricity OR indoor plumbing)

This course or Troop Camping Certification is required of at least one adult who will attend the outing and who is involved in the planning process for the trip

Take this course before backpacking.

Required of at least one adult who will backpack with the troop and who is involved in the planning process

Take this course before planning an event or camporee serving more than 50 girls.

Required of at least one adult for any event or camporee serving more than 50 girls

Health and Safety Series

Take this course before specified activities as outlined in the Safety Activity Checkpoints.

Enrichment Series

This course is intended for girls preparing to work on their Gold Award, and for adults who are supporting them.
