As part of the Adult Screening Process, volunteers may complete either fingerprinting or a criminal background check.  This page describes how to complete fingerprinting or a criminal background check, the second step in the Volunteer Screening Process.  If you have not already done so, you must complete the volunteer application. Criminal Background Check

1. Log on to the self pay portal https://gsnorcalbc.volunteerportal.net or the financial aid portal https://gsnorcalfinaid.volunteerportal.net
2. Enter the password on the Welcome Page: screenme (for both portals)
3. Enter Personal Information.
   • All fields marked with a "*" (asterisk) are required.
4. Click Next and review all information to ensure its accuracy before proceeding.

    If you Quit without clicking Save, the system will not save your information. Your background check will not be run. You will need to start over from the beginning when you return.

   If you click Save before you Quit, you will be provided with a reference code to enter when you return to the site to pick up where you left off.
   
   When returning to the site, click on this link on the Welcome Page: "If you are returning to finish a previous search, then click here."
   
   Enter your last name and reference number to resume your previous search.

    5.    Click Complete

Fingerprinting

Please be aware that we cannot accept previous fingerprint clearances from other agencies (in accordance with California law).  You must be fingerprinted specifically for Girl Scouts.  Click here to see other Frequently Asked Questions.

Fingerprinting at the San Jose office is free of charge.  We are currently working to establish relationships with vendors to provide free or low-cost fingerprinting by appointment in our other offices.  Drop-in Fingerprinting Hours at the San Jose Office

Saturdays By Appointment

Fingerprinting can be scheduled at the San Jose office by appointment for the 3rd Saturday of the each month between 10:00 am- 2:00pm.  In August, fingerprinting appointments can be made on August 14 (second Saturday) instead of the 21st.

Fingerprinting at Service Unit Meetings

The Live Scan device may also be available at some service unit meetings (most often in Santa Clara County). Please check with your service unit for available dates and times.

About Finger Printing

• Fingerprinting at the San Jose office will be on a first come, first served basis. A numbering system has been established to maintain a priority order for fingerprinting.


• Be sure to bring a form of valid photo ID with you: driver’s license, passport, military ID, or California ID card.


• While the average processing time per person is 10 minutes, times may vary based on the quality of fingerprinting images.

Fingerprinting at Outside Agencies

If you cannot make it to the San Jose Girl Scout office, you may schedule an appointment with an approved Live Scan Agency for fingerprinting (see list of agencies in the area below).

To use an approved Live Scan Agency:

1. Download and fill-out a copy of our Live Scan Application

2. Choose an approved Live Scan Agency and make an appointment
3. Bring your Live Scan Application to your fingerprinting appointment
4. Get fingerprinted and pay the fingerprinting fee ranging from $0 to $40 depending on the agency (most agencies charge approximately $20). (GSNorCal does not provided reimbursement for these charges.)
