On September 28th the eleventh annual Stover Celebrity Golf Tournament for the benefit of the Girl Scouts of Northern California will take place at Sevillano Links in Corning. Jeff has worked with the Girl Scouts to make the tournament one of the most successful in the area and in fact, a local tradition. Last year’s tournament raised nearly $39,000 in net proceeds, so this unique partnership has made a great difference for our local Girl Scouts. Former San Francisco 49er Jeff Stover, and the owner of Chico Sports Club formed a link with the Girl Scouts in 1998, when he first allowed the Girl Scouts to be the beneficiaries of his celebrity golf tournament, begun some years before. The tournament exemplifies community involvement at its best, when many rally around a great cause and create an extraordinary outcome for young people.
This year PremierWest Bank is the top sponsor for the second year and many other businesses are adding their vote of confidence, including Sierra Central Credit Union, Coastal Business Systems, Little Brownie Baker, Ashdon Farms, and St. Elizabeth’s Community Hospital.
The proceeds from the tournament help provide support for the Girl Scout throughout the north state. It provides needed resources so that all girls can participate in the program. The Girl Scouts appreciate all the wonderful support for this event!
