Marina has served as CEO of Girl Scouts of Northern California since November 2007, leading the post-merger transformation of 5 Girl Scout Councils into one, delivering services to 54,000 girls and 32,000 adult members across 19 counties – from Santa Clara County to the Oregon Border and from Chico to the Pacific Ocean. After a 25-year career in the business world, Marina joined Girl Scouts because she believes in the Girl Scouts mission: to build girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place. At the Girl Scouts she has led development of a 3-year strategy and post-merger integration of operations, focusing on sustainable growth, diversity and inclusion, vibrant programs, engaged volunteers, and financial strength.

Prior to joining the Girl Scouts as CEO, Marina was an attorney with Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP, an 850-lawyer international law firm. At Pillsbury Marina was the Managing Partner of the first woman-led major law firm in the United States. She was elected to three successive terms as the firm-wide Managing Partner together with Firm Chair, Mary Cranston, and was responsible for 30 direct reports and all aspects of the firm’s $575m / annual revenue practice operations and profitability. During her tenure as Managing Partner at Pillsbury, Marina negotiated and implemented two of the largest law firm mergers in the United States as part of a four-person management team. Marina also established a diversity program that earned top rankings from Working Mother and other national publications. Her legal practice included technology transactions and litigation.

Marina graduated from law school at the University of Michigan in 1983, where she earned first place in the school-wide moot court and “best brief” competitions. Prior to law school, Marina worked as a community organizer and VISTA volunteer for two years (1978 – 1980) at a non-profit nursing home reform organization in Detroit, Michigan. Marina was awarded her B.A, with honors, from U.C. Berkeley.

In 2006, 2008 and 2009 the San Francisco Business Times recognized Marina with the Most Influential Women In Business Award.
